St. Francis Xavier, enshrined in our church.

Saint Francis Xavier, born on 7 April 1506 and passing away on 3 December 1552, was a Spanish Catholic missionary and
co-founder of the Society of Jesus. He embarked on a significant mission across Asia, particularly in early modern India, where he played a key role in evangelization efforts. He died on Shangchuan Island. Pope Paul V beatified him on 25 October 1619, and Pope Gregory XV canonized him on 12 March 1622. In 1624, he was named co-patron of Navarre. Known as the "Apostle of the Indies," he is regarded as one of the most influential missionaries since Paul the Apostle. Xavier's body, largely incorruptible, was transported to Goa on 11 December 1553 and now rests in the Basilica of Bom Jesus. His feast day is celebrated on 3 December.
